Our story.
Joe Donovan, a 2003 graduate of Western Carolina University (Go Cats!), saw a need in the community for a locally accountable, customer-focused sign company. That vision led to the creation of Simply Signs—a business dedicated to making the sign project process easier for Western North Carolina.
With 20 years of experience in the region, Joe brings a diverse background spanning media, non-profits, business technology, and custom signage project management. This well-rounded expertise allows him to take a comprehensive approach to consulting and delivering the right signage solutions for businesses.
At the heart of Simply Signs is family. Joe and his wife, Elisabeth—one of Asheville’s rare natives—along with their two daughters, Anne and Jayme, have deep roots in the area. Their love for the community makes being part of its growth and revitalization especially meaningful.
Over the years, strong relationships have been a cornerstone of their lives in Western North Carolina. At the present moment their children attend Buncombe County Schools, and the family stays actively involved with Valley Hope Church in Swannanoa, the YMCA of Western North Carolina, and coaching their local Special Olympics basketball team.
